In the news: As the recession takes it toll, The Gap teams with Feeding America for the "Give & Get" program. Its to help raise funds for Feeding America's essential country-wide food assistance programs. Feeding America is one of 6 non-profit groups that Gap Inc. will partner with during the promotion. Gap will give employees and a group of customers with a 30 percent discount, donating 5 percent of total "Give & Get" sales to the 6 non-profits, with customers and employees deciding which non-profit they would like to support.
From the tube: Still cold weather in Canada and if you're huddled indoors, Fashion Television will keep you warm and busy as they run a free preview of their programs through March.

In the news: From LA, Fergie introduced her new MAC Cosmetics VIVA GLAM VI Special Edition Lipstick, as well as the new VIVA GLAM ad campaign. Fergie visited Project Angel Food and even helped hand out food. Its an an organization that provides free prepared meals and nutrition counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS. 100 percent of the sales of all VIVA GLAM products) goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund.
From the tube, Bravo is bringing us a new documentary-type series. “Double Exposure” will follow photographers Markus Klinko and Indriani, as well as stylist GK Reid to to show us what goes on "behind the scene" in the world of high fashion. If you haven't seen it already, "Make Me a Supermodel 2" is on the air. The winner gets a fashion pictorial for Cosmo a one year contract with New York Models, AND 100-thousand dollars.
The celeb scene reveals "on again/off again" couple Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson had a "date night," BlackBerrys in hand. AND...we've all probably seen this already, BUT I had to point it out. Who'd a thunk that Ellen DeGeneres as the latest face of Cover Girl Cosmetics and has been featured on their latest print and TV commercial ad campaigns.

Sao Paulo Fashion Week has kicked off! Its first day of collections featured a stunning appearance by Brazil supermodel Gisele Bundchen. She strutted her stuff on the runway for Colcci. She's the official face for Colcci and lead desiger Jessica Lengyel.

Narciso Rodriguez unveils 'Essence, BizBash releases its 8th annual list of New York's Top 100 Events, Brazil is a hit in the fashion scene with a debut in Rio, and MAC Cosmetics offers the Hello Kitty Collection!
For spring '09, American fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez has unveiled his latest signature fragrance called "'Essence." Its the designer's third scent created with Beaute Prestige International, a Paris-based fragrance division of Shiseido Cosmetics The bottle, itself, is a masterpiece of soft-sculpted glass and glows from within its mirrored core. Supermodel Catherine MacNeil's imagery radiates warmth and an ultra-feminine sensuality in the advertising campaign.
BizBash, the reported leading trade media publisher for the event planning industry, has released its 8th annual list of "New York's Top 100 Events." In the Fashion & Beauty Industry Events category are: Fashion Week, C.F.D.A. Awards, FiFi Awards, Fashion Group International's Night of Stars Benefit, International Beauty Show, American Cancer Society Dream Ball, and Accessories Council ACE Awards
Brazil makes a huge impact on the fashion scene with its exceptional quality of fabrics, which were brilliantly displayed in a couple of collections staged in Rio de Janeiro. Local designers paraded rich and new materials from "Printing," a 15-year-old label from the northern state of Minas Gerais. The show featured fresh fabrics with a combination of exotic plant and fauna which melded into in marbleized and volcanic patterns.
From MAC Cosmetics comes the "Hello Kitty Collection." MAC is launching Hello Kitty,as well as Hello Kitty Couture in February. The collection will be on U.S. shelves February 12th. International availabibility is slated for March.
